WELCOME TO NIA’S HOUSE
A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER
My name is Dr. Marlena Clark, the Founder and Chief Healing Officer of Nia’s House. Nia’s House is a mental health 501c(3) organization with a mission to provide therapy to under-resourced, underinsured and uninsured Illinois residents via teletherapy! The need for culturally competent, evidenced based teletherapy increased exponentially when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world. To support the need in Illinois, particularly Chicago, Nia’s House added two mental health consultants whose over 20 years of combined experience allowed us to quadruple our capacity to provide individual teletherapy to the most vulnerable in our community.
Mental Health Equity Program
Mental health equity is at the heart of what we do here at Nia’s House! What’s that? So glad you asked…Mental health equity is one’s ability to gain reasonable access to quality mental health care and a therapeutic match. A therapeutic match is a licensed mental health professional whose expertise, treatment style, and professional identity matches well with the mental health needs of the client.
EQUITY provides more than EQUAL access. It ensures that those who need more support to gain access to professional, medically necessary therapy get it!
Our under-resourced, under-insured and uninsured members need equitable access to mental health care and our Mental Health Equity Program is designed to provide these members with safe, convenient tele-therapy that’s sponsored by our Mental Health Equity (MHE) Champions!
